Elisabetta franchispeaks out against the exploitation of circus animals

Elisabetta Franchi, an extraordinary member of LAV, has always been active with several projects in support of animals, sided with the animal rights association for the financing of the recovery center and exotic wild animals in Semproniano, Tuscany. The specialized center in a shelter for saved animals from exploitation by the circuses: 23 hectares in the center are hospitalized about 600 individuals of different specie including big cats, parrots, monkeys and zebras.


Alert to this dramatic situation and indignant at the silence on the part of Italian institutions, Elisabetta Franchi collaborates with LAV in the fight against public financing of circuses. She also calls for a collective boycott of circuses to save hundreds of defenceless animals.


To support this battle, she decided to launch the Special T-shirts that will appear on the catwalks showing the Fall-Winter 2016-2017 collection, with strong images and clear messages that make an unequivocal statement against this type of animal exploitation. «Circus is not fun for animals» and even «Animals are not clown» is the appeal launched by the designer to raise awareness and expose the cruelty hidden behind a spectacle where violence and coercion are the order of the day.


The two pieces are part of the Fall-Winter 2016-17 collection that includes on «Animal Free» line featuring clothing produced entirely without materials of animal origin: eco-friendly furs and feathers, dresses, tops and skirts in artificial leather, as well as handbags and small accessories. All products created in the unique style of the Maison but that respect the animal kingdom. For each item in the line, one euro will be donated to LAV to support the important projects undertaken by the association.
